Red Light
The most healthy color of light.
The wavelength that increases energy, skin health, strength,
and charges mitochondria.
WHAT IS LIGHT?
Light is electromagnetic radiation that can be perceived by the human eye.
The 'white light' we perceive is actually made-up of all the colors of the light spectrum.
Each color has its own wavelength, level of energy and effect on the human body.
Light is information.
Once absorbed through our eyes and skin, our body interprets the (light) information and sets processes in motion accordingly.
Different wavelengths of light play important roles in regulating biological function.
This is all about Red Light Therapy (RLT) also referred to as Photobiomodulation (PBM) or Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT).
The Red Light has a wavelength ranging from 600nm-700nm and infrared light ranging from 700nm-1400nm in length on the electromagnetic spectrum.
These wavelengths are able to pierce directly through your body tissues (skin/organs/bones)
Beneficial tissue effects of LLLT can include almost all the tissues and organs of the body.
During sunrise, the low angle that sunlight enters the Earth's atmosphere causes blue light to diffuse while red light remains intact and more penetrating.
This means that sunrise is optimal for red light absorption.
This study, when comparing A (no LLLT) to B (3 to 6 hours after LLLT) we see:
Mitochondria increased in flux of electrons (ticker red arrow), pumping of H+, synthesis of ATP and increased take up of TMRM by the mitochondrial matrix.
2) Muscle Strength
In 2011, researchers testing light therapy and strength training on healthy young men concluded:
“Strength training associated with light therapy can increase muscle performance compared with strength training only."

3) Inflammation
Red light penetrates into cells, mitochondria are pushed to make energy more efficiently.
Boosting the production of healing anti-inflammatories and antioxidants that speed up healing.

This research found decease in inflammatory markers after applying red light therapy.
6) Skin
Red light therapy stimulates the production of collagen
RLT can help the skin regenerate and heal faster by reducing oxidative stress and improving blood flow to inflamed tissue.
7) Cognition
After a 2 month period the patient showed decreased depression, anxiety, headache, and insomnia, whereas cognition and quality of life improved, accompanied by changes in the SPECT imaging.
