Additives
To avoid clumping, non organic spice producers will add things like sodium aluminosilicate, sodium ferrocyanide, calcium silicate, and silicon dioxide.
The scary part is, they are not required to mention these on the ingredient lists.
Fillers:
To keep up with demand, many conventional spices brands will add fillers to their spices. Glutamic acid is the most common one, which is mainly used in the form of MSG.
Sterilization methods:
Most non organic spice brands use fumigation and irradiation to sterilize their spices before being packaged.
These procedures use harmful chemicals to kill germs and other microbes.
Pesticides:
Non organic spices are loaded with synthetic pesticides during growth.
Organic spices used natural fertilizers like compost and manure.
Soil quality:
Because of the heavy pesticide use, the soil quality that non organic spices are grown in lead to far less nutritious spices.
Not only will these unnatural methods kill the medicinal properties of the herbs and spices, it can be potentially harmful as well.
