@lpolovets ๐ lost 25lb over the past year (215 -> 190) and still going
I used to think exercise was easier for me than dieting too, but until I made a few simple tweaks to my eating habits it was super hard to make progress. The good news is, if youโre active you def donโt have to starve

@lpolovets Ultimately itโs about calories in - calories our, so what helped me most was tracking calories and macros for a while (I use macrotracker) to get a better understanding of what I was putting in my body. It was super fascinating to get a better understanding.
@lpolovets Once you track whatโs going in, there are all sorts of optimizations you can make. โI have X calories and Y macro targets, whatโs the best way to spend themโ is a much more fun problem to solve than โI need to eat as little as possibleโ
@lpolovets For me the equilibrium was high protein low carb breakfast (eggs, low-sugar yogurt, or protein shake), similar for lunch (salad), then I can do basically whatever for dinner.
@lpolovets Finding your own version of this for lunch and breakfast (fits caloric / macro reqs, tasty, convenient) puts you 90% of the way there
@lpolovets After that the main thing I did was stop drinking except on weekends or special occasions, and cut out sweets/snacks at night and replace them with tea or hot water with lemon
Youโd be surprised how much damage night snack cravings can do, and how easy they are to solve w/ tea

@lpolovets The other bonus thing to do is use @Levels or something like it
Itโs more about metabolism than weight loss but as time goes on I am more interested in the former than the latter (for longevity reasons)

@lpolovets @Levels Also if you do a lot of zone 2 exercise you can train your mitochondria to actually be more efficient, and if you build a lot of lean mass you have more volume for glucose to fill, so the diet can get even less restrictive over time
@lpolovets @Levels Finally, Iโd say itโs important to shoot for a caloric deficit thatโs not too big. Like if you are active and burning 3000+ kcals a day on average, you can eat 2200-2500 kcals and lose weight and it will barely even feel like a diet
@lpolovets @Levels Hope this helps and I am rooting for you!
