Increase your Health by Breathing Correctly.
You breathe more than 20.000 times a day and a lot of people are doing it wrong.
Let me tell you what to do, and why.
- Thread -
1/ Physiognomy
Besides health it also effects your face structure.
Breathing through the mouth destroys your jawline and shrinks your nasal passages.
It weakens the muscles in the face and jaw. It will shorten your face and shrink your mouth.
This forces you to breathe through your nose even more.
2/ Toxins
The hair in your nostrils are made to filter out toxins and send them to your throat to help.
When you breath through your mouth these toxins are send straight to your lungs.
Beware!
I have heard of people trimming their nose hair.
This is literally destroying your body's safety system for the toxins.
Also for people with hay fever, this making it way easier to get pollen into your system.
I don't recommend doing this.
3/ Sleep
James Nestor points out that breathing through the mouth causes sleep apnea, snoring and high blood pressure.
Mouth breathing is destroying your sleep, which magnifies other diseases.
Try taping your mouth at night.
You don't need to tape your entire mouth shut, just a piece in the middle is enough.
It forces you to breathe through your nose.
This is an easy way to make sure you get another 7-9 hours of Nasal Breathing only.
3/ Athletic Performance
By nose breathing you absorb approximately 18% more oxygen than via your mouth.
This is because nostril breathing increases nitric oxide.
Benefits of nitric oxide are:
- Improved Excercise Discharge
- Boosts Arterial Health
- Management of type 2 Diabetes
- Fixes Erectile Dysfunction
- Lowers Blood Pressure
Israel Adesanya (UFC champion) said:
"It is a little secret. Focusing on you know how you breathe, not just breathing for the sake of breathing. At the end of the first round. He’s going to be mouth breathing. And you’ll see me nasal breathing in out fresh air.”
4/ Anxiety
When you breath short and shallow through your mouth your hypothalamus thinks it needs to be alert.
So it activates the sympathic nervous system.
In the long run this causes dysfunction from the hypothalamus and HPA Axis.
Conditions that have are caused by HPA dysfunction are:
- Anxiety
- Chronic Fatique Syndrome
- Hormone Imbalances
- Depression
- Autoimmume disorders
Best thing to do for your health today is:
Start breathing correctly.
- Become aware of your breath, make sure you are always nasal breathing also when performing sports.
- Mouth taping at night.
- Start looking like Apollo. He was 100% a nose breather.
The best thing you can do for somebody else's health is sharing this thread.

Hopefully everybody that is serious about health will see this and start Nose Breathing right away!
