Sean "Diddy" Combs is known for revolutionizing Hip Hop but has also faced charges for s3x trafficking and racketeering.
From the “Diddy Parties” to history of alleged violence dating back to the 90s, there is quite a dark side to this Rapper.
Let's uncover his backstory that led to so many controversies.
1. His father was Murder*d when he was just 3.
- His dad, Melvin Combs, served in the US Air Force and was associated with New York Drug Dealer, Frank Lucas.
- He was only 33 years old when he was fatally gunned down in 1972 after he was mistaken for a police informant.
- During a past interview, Diddy revealed that his dad was a “snitch”, and was murdered over a $10,000 drug deal.
2. “Diddy parties” started at Howard University.
- TMZ claimed that “no one was safe” at Diddy parties. His friends term the parties as “Freak Offs”, involving drugs, spiked drinks, and forced sex acts.
- But before Diddy started hosting the white “Diddy parties” for his celeb friends, he started the parties at Howard University, although he did not graduate.
- However, following his recent arrest, the university revoked the honorary doctorate and refunded his $1 million gift to the institution.
3. From an Intern to the Biggest Rap Labels.
- He started as an intern at Uptown records in 1990 at age 20, from where he was fired just after 3 years.
- After Uptown, Combs established his own label Bad Boy Records, one of the biggest rap labels of the 90s, home to artists like Ma$e, Faith Evans, 112, The Lox and Notorious B.I.G.
- However after initial success, the record labels associated with Sean “Diddy” Combs collapsed during a spiral involving murder, death and imprisonment.
4. His 'Freak offs' were attended by notable figures such as Prince Harry, Beyoncé and Donald Trump.
- Combs is accused of threatening female victims by violence, coercion and drugs to get women to take part in 'freak-offs' known for forced sexu@l acts that were recorded and lasted days.
- Record label executives looked the other way benefiting financially from access to celebrities, including the British royal Prince Harry and several A-listed actors, including Jennifer Lopez, Leonardo DiCaprio.
- Several lawsuits alleges that Combs regularly hosted these “sex-tr@fficking parties” with underage women and illegal drugs.
5. He is a father of 7 kids from different relationships.
- His son Quincy Brown, though not biologically his, was raised as part of his family, and is the son of Diddy’s late ex-girlfriend, Kim Porter, and R&B singer AI B.
- He shared three other kids with Kim Porter, namely Christian Combs and twin daughters D’Lila Star Combs and Jessie James Combs.
- He also shares a son, Justin Combs, with Misa Hylton-Brim and a daughter, Chance Combs, with Sarah Chapman. Diddy’s seventh child is Love Sean Combs, whose mother is Dana Tran.
6. His Ex-Girlfriend accused him of years of Abuse and R@pe.
- On 16 November 2023, he was sued by singer and dancer Cassie, his former partner, who alleged that she was trafficked, raped and beaten by Combs on many occasions over 10 years.
- On May 17, surveillance footage captured at a hotel in Los Angeles in March 2016 showed Diddy chasing Cassie Ventura down the hallway before punching and kicking her outside elevators.
- Initially, Combs denied all wrongdoing, but after the surveillance video surfaced, Combs posted an apology on his social media accounts.
7. More than 3000 cases have been filed against Diddy.
- More than 120 people, including men, women, and minors accused Combs of sexual misconduct from 1991 till now, taken up from a long list of 3,280.
- For nearly a year, Combs has faced a series of civil lawsuits that accuse him of Sexu@l Abuse, R@pe and Ass@ults. Now, federal prosecutors have brought criminal charges against him.
- Lawsuit by former model Jane Doe for R@pe and forced Abort!on, Derrick Smith, 51, an inmate for Sexu@l Assault, Thalia Graves, for being raped by Combs and a bodyguard, are few of many.
8. His Arrest - Is Even a Life Sentence enough?
- Combs was arrested on September 16 from a Manhattan hotel and faces charges including sex trafficking and racketeering. If convicted, he could face a life sentence.
- The top attorney reportedly said that high-profile accomplices of Sean “Diddy” Combs will be named in a new wave of accuser suits. He added that “the names will shock you.”
- He has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since pleading not guilty on September 17. If convicted, he faces a sentence of anywhere from 15 years to life in prison.
Sean Combs, Puff Daddy, P.Diddy, or “Brother Love” is a man of many names and even more untold stories.
