I spent some time in Florence with David last week. I was able to evaluate his intravascular volume status thanks to Michelangelo's meticulous sculpting.

Notice the engorged hand veins in the right hand, which is positioned far below the level of the right atrium. Engorged hand veins in this position is quite normal.
But what about the other hand?

David's left hand is positioned just above the level of his heart. Notice that the hand veins are collapsed in this position, as they should be in someone with normal central venous pressure.
