To be a millionaire,
You need to stay in the game.
You can't let stress, anger or anxiety take you out.
When I feel any of these emotions, here's what I do:
β€’ Pause and Recognize
Viktor Frankl said, Between stimulus and response there is a space.
In that space is our power to choose our response.
In our response lies our growth and our freedom.
You can't control what happens to you.
You can control how you feel and respond.
β€’ Impermanence
It doesn’t matter.
None of it is going to last – not your:
β€’ Life
β€’ Family
β€’ Legacy
β€’ Wealth
β€’ Possessions
In the fullness of time, it’s all going to disappear – Everything.
Take a breath.
Let it go and move on.
β€’ Memento Mori
As Marcus Aurelius said, you could leave life right now. Let that determine what you do and say and think.
The Stoics practiced Memento Mori, because it is inevitable. We will all die. We are all impermanent.
What matters, my friends, is what we do while alive.
β€’ Amor Fati
Amor Fati means we should be grateful and love what:
β€’ Has happened
β€’ Is happening
β€’ Will happen
The stimulus is the stimulus.
How you perceive the stimulus is your choice. No one else’s.
Don’t let the arrow hit you twice.
β€’ The Last Time
Sam Harris blends impermanence and mindfulness with the idea every moment is unique and will never be repeated.
β€’ Live in the present moment
β€’ Appreciate the unique nature of each experience
β€’ Cultivate a sense of gratitude for the good things in your life
β€’ Life Happens For You, Not to You
When you reorient your mindset to life is happening FOR YOU, you become co-creator.
You can start to ask yourself:
β€’ What else is true
β€’ Why is this happening
β€’ What is the good in this
β€’ What is the positive outcome
β€’ Cosmic Insignificance
Human beings and their concerns are insignificant in the grand scheme of the Universe.
When you accept your place in the universe, it can be liberating.
It can put your problems into perspective that many of the things you worry about are trivial.
TL;DR:
When you want to stay in the game, you need to control your emotions.
Here's seven techniques I use to reset my frame:
β€’ Amor Fati
β€’ The Last Time
β€’ Impermanence
β€’ Memento Mori
β€’ It happens for you
β€’ Pause and recognize
β€’ Cosmic Insignificance
This thread has been a "cheat sheet" on how to reset your frame.
