⚠️HOLY SMOKES—A famous whistleblower against @Boeing on safety issues, has just been suddenly found dead in his truck in his hotel parking lot—all while **testifying in the middle of his week of depositions** against Boeing. JFC. Many of John Barnett’s claims about dangerous Boeing practices have already been verified by the FAA. If we don’t hold accountability for his death, whistleblowers won’t come forward in the future—which would endanger publicly health & safety.

2) WTF — “It said the 62-year-old had died from a "self-inflicted" wound on 9 March and police were investigating.” ➡️ people don’t suddenly commit suicide in a parking lot while at a hotel to testify against @Boeing for days and days.
@Boeing 3) Everyone needs to watch John Oliver @LastWeekTonight episode on Boeing immediately… it’s fire 🔥

4) “Even in the technical meetings (of aircraft engineers), everything revolved around Boeing stock prices”. JFC.
5) “a 2017 review by the US regulator, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), did uphold some of Mr Barnett's concerns.
It established that the location of at least 53 "non-conforming" parts in the factory was unknown, and that they were considered lost. Boeing was ordered to take remedial action.
On the oxygen cylinders issue, the company said that in 2017 it had "identified some oxygen bottles received from the supplier that were not deploying properly". But it denied that any of them were actually fitted on aircraft.
After retiring, he embarked on a long-running legal action against the company.
He accused it of denigrating his character and hampering his career because of the issues he pointed out”
6) Basically whistleblower John Barnett has been tirelessly warning about Boeing dangers for almost a decade. Yet somehow he suddenly commits suicide in his deposition testimony week after all these years? Gimme a break. Last month he was still warning:

7) Folks—John Barnett worked at @Boeing for 28 years. He is not an attention seeker. Yet federal whistleblower protection wasn’t enough to protect him during his testimony. We live in a dangerous world folks. Whistleblowers need better protection.

@Boeing 8) Years ago during the Boeing 737-Max Ethiopian crash incident—when Trump was president… while nations around the world grounded the 737-Max, Trump’s FAA let them keep flying for 2 more days. Trump WH also further relaxed FAA inspection standards. 🔥 forbes.com
@Boeing 9) @Boeing CEO Muilenburg spoke with Trump that a.m., urging him not to ground 737 Max 8s after the Ethiopian 737 Max crash. Muilenburg has tried to cultivate Trump. He visited Mar-a-Lago after AF1 dust-up, & then Boeing donated $1M to Trump inaugural.

10) A really weird thing—besides the small website “Corporate Crimes Reporter”, TMZ, and BBC News who all reported it 14-18 hours ago—no other major outlet has covered John Barnett’s death until the last few hours today. This is explosive news—yet mostly crickets 🦗—weird.
11) the last 24 hours of news about @Boeing is just wild… this LATAM airline pilot told a passenger his 787 aircraft gauges went blank!
@Boeing 12) F.A.A.: @Boeing had “failed 33 of 89 audits during an examination conducted by the Federal Aviation Administration after a panel blew off an Alaska Airlines jet in January”—“with a total of 97 instances of alleged noncompliance”.
