The successive governments, with callous indifference, have diverted the noble cause for freedom into a grotesque spectacle of corruption and privilege, tarnishing the essence of the Kashmiri struggle.

As the Valley bled & the LoC reverberated with the cries of the oppressed, AJK's ruling elite emerge as a chilling epitome of treachery, cunning,& brazen hypocrisy. Their merciless exploitation of the Kashmiri people's blood stands as an unforgivable betrayal of humanity itself.

In the fiscal year 2008-2009, Azad Kashmir's government initiated a mammoth 583.968 million project titled "Information and Media Development," ostensibly aimed at garnering international support for Kashmir's freedom struggle.
However, the bitter truth exposes a sinister plot—the government diverted Pakistan’s grant meant for infrastructure development toward the luxuries of officials, all under the guise of mobilizing international opinion on Kashmir.
A staggering Rs. 233 million have already been squandered until June 2023, purportedly for strengthening the information department of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in four phases., with another 26.5 million earmarked for this year for ongoing fourth phase.
Meanwhile, 72.7 million were lavished on the Establishment of Digital Archives and Digital Media Section by June 2023, against an allocated 85 million.
Similarly, 38.2 million were spent on the Strengthening of
Similarly, 38.2 million were spent on the Strengthening of
District Information offices of DGPR until June 2023 against the Rs 55 million budgets. The government has already spent or is in the process of spending to funnel the remaining Rs 56.5 million into various ongoing projects this year,
with an additional allocation of 200 million for the fiscal year 2023-2024, continuing this cycle of exploitation and deceit. In total, the government of Azad Kashmir has spent Rs 344 million since the beginning of the project in 2008-2009 until June 2023.
In the fiscal year 2019-2020, 14 vehicles were procured, 24 employees hired, and 100 pieces of equipment acquired under the pretext of supporting the Kashmir cause.
Additionally, the project included the archiving of 10,000 newspapers and the establishment of news studios.
However, the purported purchase of broadcasting vans turned out to be a façade, as funds were diverted to procure a luxury car for a top official.
This sordid saga of corruption and moral bankruptcy persists, regardless of changes in political leadership. The project, initiated during Sardar Attiq Ahmed Khan's tenure in 2008-2009, unveils a systemic failure to honor the genuine aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
The fact that his successors did not reassess the project but instead perpetuated it underscores the consistent approach of deceit by Azad Kashmir's entire political elite.
What adds intrigue to the situation is that a portion of Pakistan’s grant, intended for infrastructure development, was diverted to cater to officials under the guise of supporting the Kashmir cause.
This implies that AJK’s ruling elite not only circumvented the government of Pakistan but also neglected the plight of victims of Indian violence.
As Kashmiris on both sides endured suffering and loss, as the valley faced months-long sieges and the spectre of genocide loomed,
Azad Kashmir's ruling elite stand accused—accused of turning a blind eye to bloodshed, of sacrificing the oppressed for personal extravagance, and of betraying the very essence of the struggle for justice and freedom.
The ruling elite of AJK assert that they are unable to advocate for Kashmir's cause due to their status as local authority. Nevertheless, they maneuver around Pakistani officials and misuse funds under the guise of supporting the Kashmir cause without facing consequences.
Moreover, the ruling elite of Azad Kashmir misuses funds in a manner suggesting that people in the Kashmir valley endure blindness, death, torture, or imprisonment for elite’s luxurious vehicles and extravagant offices without repercussions.
A Kashmiri victim stated that the ruling elite of Azad Kashmir insults the blood of Kashmiris more than anyone else.
The people of Kashmir demand justice, transparency, & an end to the cycle of betrayal that stains the corridors of power. The Kashmiri struggle, steeped in sacrifice & resilience, deserves leaders who honor its noble cause, not exploit it for personal gain. jammukashmirwatch.blogspot.com
