INTERVIEW | 𝗭𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗜𝗾𝗯𝗮𝗹 to @DirkSteenaart
"Iraqi fans come from everywhere. Even when I'm out, they speak to me or wave the flag. I don't often read many comments or use social media after a game. I try to stay out of that a bit. I just have to show it on the pitch."
Zidane on his start to #fcutrecht:
"It was so frustrating to be injured. It's not fun anyway, but being injured at your new club is really annoying. I hope that, despite the rough start, we can still qualify for Europe. With a few wins, I really see ourselves having a chance."
ZI: "My father has supported me from the start. We also talked a lot before I made the move to Utrecht together with my agent. I told my dad about FC Utrecht and he was immediately enthusiastic. I thought it was important that he supported this step. He also follows me closely."
Zidane Iqbal on his first meeting with FC Utrecht head coach Ron Jans:
"We sat down together and had a very good conversation. He asked what he would benefit from me and what my qualities are. He also introduced himself well. It immediately felt very good."
Zidane Iqbal on his time at Manchester United #MUFC:
"I was given the opportunity to play in the Champions League there. That was nice to experience, but of course I also worked hard for that. I still speak to Charlie Savage. Not as often as before, but we try to keep in touch."
Zidane Iqbal on his international debut vs Iran:
"That was nice. So many people watched that match and suddenly I made my debut. I'm very grateful to everyone for that. When I signed for FC Utrecht, Zeljko Petrovic sent me a message and wished me good luck. I liked that of him."
Zidane Iqbal on his new life in the Netherlands:
"It is very busy in Amsterdam. I compare it a bit with London. I prefer a quieter city like Utrecht. Actually, Utrecht is just like Manchester - nice and quiet. Nice streets and friendly people. I like to go into town for dinner."
