Sikhs are often falsely portrayed as violent extremists and terrorists in order to create hatred and fear towards them and justify the genocide, human rights violations, discrimination, and hate crimes the Brahmanical Indian state has inflicted upon them.
With regards to violence against Christians in India, human rights organization @hrw has classified this as a tactic used by the right-wing Sangh Parivar organizations to encourage and exploit communal violence in furtherance of their political ends.

On January 22, 1999, Australian citizen and Christian missionary Graham Staines was burned to death in Odisha India, along with his two sons, Philip (aged 10) and Timothy (aged 6), by extremist #Hindu mobs from the Hindu Nationalist group Bajrang Dal.
The mob of over 100 Hindus, armed with axes and other implements, attacked the vehicle. Staines and his sons were fast asleep inside when they poured petroleum over their station wagon and set it alight, trapping them inside and burning them to death.
As the family tried to escape, the mob of #Hindu terrorists held them back while shouting pro-Bajrang Dal slogans and physically assaulted villagers who tried to come to their rescue.
Staines had been working in Odisha since 1965 as part of an organization named "Mayurbhanj Leprosy Home," caring for people who had leprosy, a socially outcast group that is treated with disdain and discrimination by Hindus in India, and looking after the tribal people
in the area who lived in abject poverty.
Despite Staines dedicating his life to uplifting these neglected members of Indian society, extremist Hindu groups such as Bajrang Dal falsely accused him of luring or forcibly coercing Hindus into believing in the Christian faith.

Following the murders of Graham Staines and his two young sons, leaders from Sangh Parivar outfits and Indian politicians attempted to deflect, justify, and whitewash the horrific crime.
The president of the Bajrang Dal falsely claimed that Staines had been engaging in mass conversions rather than social work and that helping lepers was a mere cover for his proselytizing activities.

Home Minister LK Advani came to the Bajrang Dal's defense by proclaiming that
he "knew" these organizations and that they had "no criminality in them, while India's defense minister tried to deny any involvement of Hindu groups and claimed that the attack was part of an international conspiracy to defame India.
A month after the murders of Staines and his sons, at a meeting held in Bombay on Feb 21, 1999, members of the Bajrang Dal pledged to "uproot" Christian missionaries from India. Bajrang Dal leader Surendra Jain announced,
"We will uproot you and your activities from this land. We will expose you completely," will expose you completely," as he accused Christians of attempting to convert all of Hindu-majority India to Christianity.
The murders of Staines and his sons were not isolated events but instead part of a widespread and systematic sequence of hate crimes against Christians in India.

One of the most egregious incidents involved the gang rape of nuns in the state of Madhya Pradesh. At about 2 a.m. on September 23, 1998, four nuns who operated a medical clinic in Preetisharan Ashram in Nawapura village, Jhabua district, were gang raped by more than a dozen men.
According to Father Lucas, secretary of the Indore Diocese, a group of about eighteen or twenty armed men tried to enter the convent by pretending to be the relatives of a sick boy who needed medical attention. When the four nuns refused to open the gate,
the men forced their way in and looted cash and valuables. They then proceeded to gang-rape the four nuns who had taken refuge in a chapel inside the ashram.

Today, almost 25 years after Graham Staines and his two sons were burnt to death, by radicalised #Hindu extremists in an open display of hate that was justified with the false label of “Christian conversion”, the situation for India’s Christians has only gotten worse.
On August 8 2022, six Dalit Christian women were arrested by police in UP on charges that they were converting Hindus into Christianity. The police acted on a complaint filed by a VHP member who falsely accused them of “luring others with money” to take up the Christian faith.
Across India Hindutva outfits are ever ready to cry wolf over what they call “forced conversions” or “forced mass conversions”.
Extremist #Hindus are sweeping through villages, storming churches, burning Christian literature, attacking schools and assaulting worshippers.

In many cases, the police and members of India’s governing party are helping them, government documents and dozens of interviews revealed. The very act of worship has become dangerous despite constitutional protections for freedom of religion.

To Hindu extremists, the attacks are justified; a means of “preventing” religious conversions. For them, the possibility that some Indians, even a relatively small number, would reject Hinduism for Christianity is a threat to their dream of turning India into a pure Hindu nation.
The fact that @rajivmessage is repeating the same “Christian conversion” dog whistle to create fear in Sikhs and cause communal violence is highly alarming considering his close links with the Sangh Parivar outfits responsible for the reign of terror against Christians in India.
@RajivMessage Even more alarming is that while promoting Hindutva nationalist views that include RSS’s harmful and dangerous rhetoric about Christian conversion, he also chairs the board of governors of the Center for Indic Studies at the University of Massachusetts, @UMassD, Dartmouth
@RajivMessage @UMassD and provides funding for projects at other prestigious US institutions such as Columbia University, @Columbia.
