So I got my Ray-Ban Meta Smart glasses today. Based on my first impressions, here’s what I think about it.
By far the best aspect of the glass is integration with Spotify and audio quality.
Unless you stand really close to each other, sound is not quite perceptible to others even though it is quite crisp to you.
90% probability that I have already bought my last AirPods.
I can call anyone on my contact via phone, Messenger, and/or WhatsApp.
I usually go for a walk in the afternoon, and I did feel lot more present in my surroundings with glass than with AirPods.
To take photos, I can just press the right corner of the glass or say “hey Meta, take a photo”
Here’s some unedited photos.
Hands free video recording is going to be quite handy in many circumstances (e.g. driving)
Importing photos/videos is pretty seamless too.

What I liked the least is “Meta AI”.
It felt impossible to hold a conservation as I had to repeat “hey Meta” every single time.
“Hey Meta, what’s the capital of the US?”
Once it answered, I asked, “and what’s the capital of Canada?”
No response. Gotta say “hey Meta” again.
Not sure if they’re going to integrate a greater context window later for the AI to understand that the conversation is ongoing without having to utter “hey Meta” every single sentence.
First impression is pretty good. I can definitely see it replacing AirPods for me.
Meta AI needs more work, but it’s probably only going to get better from here.
Correction: it turns out I don’t necessarily have to say “hey Meta” every time in the middle of the conversation. It does pick up that conversation is ongoing at times, but it’s hit and miss if you don’t say “hey Meta” every time.
