I met a college friend for lunch yesterday
A conversation with her got me ‘hit refresh’
It took me back to HOW did I become an educator?
Here’s a fun story for those who are feeling down due to #UPSC cycle!
It all started in second year of my graduation
I was Jesus and Mary College, DU when something unique happened
I used to make notes in classes from what our Professors used to teach us
My artistic self used flowcharts, colors, and pointers to make creative notes
Suddenly, it became a hit among classmates and professors alike!
Something changed here: A friend of mine paid me for these notes
This was my eureka moment!
These mind maps became the go to source for my peers for quick revision in exams
One day, I explained a topic to some friends in an empty class
Instantly, I became the go - to person to understand topics for my fellow batchmates
This is where my journey for teaching started
Other than this, I also formed a small group from my college to teach underprivileged children.
We used to go 4 times a week under Moti Bagh Flyover in Delhi and assist these kids with their basic learning
For some reason, teaching these kids had me feel alive
Teaching gave me a sense of calm in this chaotic world
It is like meditation for me
I love to make things easier for students and ensure they reach their goals with my unique teaching methods
I knew my heart lies in this!
2018: I venture out studying for UPSC Civil Services
My habit of creating visually appealing notes was at work again
Since I had made a living as a teacher, the feeling did not go away!
I started sharing all my learnings as an aspirant on YouTube
Good things come to you and my YouTube became a spot for learning for lakhs of students
Now that I hit refresh again, I am thinking about what next?
I am now onto guiding the next set of Civil Services Aspirants of India
