Investor's Psychology might be the biggest differentiator between outstanding investors and mediocre ones.
Here's a list of the Top 10 Most-sold Books on Decision-Making of All Time:
1. Thinking, Fast and Slow
The most comprehensive book on human psychology and decision-making.
Many other books are based on this classic written by Nobel Memorial Prize Winner Kahneman.
The main idea is to explain the decision-making process using two different systems.
2. Blink - The Power of Thinking Without Thinking
We make so many decisions every day that we can't actively consider all of them.
In Blink, Malcolm Gladwell explains how we think unconsciously all the time and thus make decisions in the blink of an eye.
3. Fooled by Randomness
Our lives are far more dependent on (bad) luck and random events than we realize.
We are prone to think in cause-effect relationships and thus rarely acknowledge luck or hindsight bias.
Nassim Taleb does a great job of disenchanting that narrative.
4. Antifragile
Nassim Taleb did not only place one book on this list but two.
In Antifragile, he focuses on the idea that some systems or objects benefit from disorder, shocks, and volatility.
An important difference he makes is between antifragility and resilience.
5. Predictably Irrational
In this book, Dr. Dan Ariely discusses the hidden forces that influence our decision-making.
It's another deep dive into our unconscious mind and how we might be able to reflect more on our decisions.
6. Tribes - We Need You to Lead Us
Seth Godin is focusing on one of the most human things ever. Being part of a tribe or group.
It's a very unique book with great insights into not only human decision-making but also human nature.
7. Algorithms to Live By
Many books on decision-making are about how our decisions are flawed but do not come up with solutions for the problem.
This book uses the learnings from computer algorithms to help solve common decision-making problems
8. The Paradox of Choice
In The Paradox of Choice, author Barry Schwarz explains why we feel so overwhelmed with all the options we have today.
Whatever we do, it will feel wrong at some point.
This book explains why more is less.
9. Factfulness
This book offers "Ten Reasons We're Wrong About the World--and Why Things Are Better Than You Think."
It's not easy to get unbiased opinions these days.
Hans Rosling explains how we can rewire our thinking so that we see things for what they really are.
10. Daily Habit Makeover
For the last book, here's another practical guide to overcoming some of the consequences of bad decisions.
This book is on forming the right habits and beating procrastination.
Those were ten book recommendations to improve your decision-making.
