🧡: After the most horrific night in Gaza City, I ventured out for some essentials:
This was an eye hospital Israel destroyed and several buildings nearby.
Scores of homes & businesses sustained substantial damage. There was massive destruction a few hundred meters to the left.
2/ we queued for an hour for bread at this bakery nearby.
Some walked for an hour to reach the bakery. Most are closed due to lack of gas and or flour.
The bakery sells ONLY for 2.5 bucks or maximum 5$ per person. No more.
(In a nice gesture, a journalist was made to cut in).
We met these heroes who still do their best to clean the streets. We gave them water.
Due to Israeli attacks, they have not collected the waste in days.
The smell is bad in the area. The mosquitoes are everywhere.
This Israeli war is a health hazard and an environmental disaster.
We bought a couple of chickens. The guy said his work now to go and bring the chickens to sell is as dangerous as firing rockets because Israel targets them and their chicken farms. He Said many die for lack of care.
He charges mobiles for random people for free.
The shelves are emptying. (Again, I refuse to hoard).
The guy said he put almost all his stocks on the shelves.
Not sure how long this will last in a very crowded area that has several UN schools sheltering people who are β€œabandoned” by the UN.
