In Month 10 of ICT Core Content, ICT says that the high or low of the New York Session (9:30am-4:00pm) will *usually* form between 9:30-10:30am on indices.
Is that true? ๐Ÿค”
2/
I backtested this theory using real data from 2022 S&P futures contracts (ESH2022, ESM2022, ESU2022, ESZ2022).
The results are very surprising...๐Ÿคจ

In the first quarter of 2022, the high or low of the NY session was formed in the Opening Range (9:30-10:30am) an amazing 69% (nice) of the time. 6โƒฃ9โƒฃ

In the second quarter (I say quarter, but I am using effective futures contract dates as you can see in the picture), the high or low was formed in the Opening Range 72.3% of the time! ๐Ÿซข

In the third quarter, the high or low of the NY session was formed an unbelievable 80.3% of the time!! ๐Ÿ˜
6/
In the fourth quarter, 72.3% of the time, the high or low of the NY session was formed in the Opening Range. โœ๏ธ
By the way, thanks to @galaxytradespa for helping me backtest this data.
So, what are the end results โ‰๏ธ
7/
Over the course of 2022, the Opening Range formed the high or low of the NY session 73.33% of the time. That is a pretty astounding statistic. ๐Ÿคฏ

This Opening Range Concept can be applied in many ways to increase your win rate and help with your trading bias.
