If there is any community which faced continuous persecution across millenia, it was Brahmins, whether we like it or not. By being the guardians of the religion, they were in the line of fire of Buddhists and Jains and later, the others.
And the word is Sanatana. Whenever Sanatana bounced back, it was about some Brahmin setting the narrative - be it Adi Shankara, Vidyaranya and others. Even people like Hemadripant or the Purbiya battalions of 1857(check their composition. You will see a surprise).
And when I say Brahmin, its the Varna of Brahmin which lives for and lives off the society. In fact, it is a well known thing that Vedas should be taught free. If Vedas are taught free, how did those teaching Vedas survive, then? Simply put, the state supported them.
When Buddhism and Jainism were under retreat, the ruling clans found another use for the Brahmins. They were selfless. One of the earliest inscriptions such comes from 930 when Rashtrakuta Govinda set Brahmins as a counterweight to the landed gentry and nobility.
In fact, even as late as Krishna Raya, he said trust Brahmins and not anybody else - a proof of their neutrality and loyalty.
And during Mysorean invasion of Calicut, Tipu and his father lavished their benevolence on Brahmins more than even the ruling Nairs.
The problem is this. Brahmins are the protectors of the religion and are an anathema to those trying to destroy Hinduism. Brahmins were made a counterweight by the kings against the landed gentry and held vast lands in prime spots coveted by one and all.
And invention of atrocity narrative without even proper proof, why are we surprised at it? Comeon...Brahmin population never crossed 5% anywhere - how do you suppose they wielded that great power and social dominance attributed to them?
Synopsis? Who is the best to blame? Those who are loyal to the society but are weak and depended on the society, those who are at odds with the changing ways when they realized the changing ways are not good for thr society. And when state withdraws it's support to such people?
And only the wilfully blind will not accept the attacks on Brahmins is actually an attack not on Brahmins but on the society and religion. All you need to do is go and check the timeframes when Hinduism is on the backfoot and how Brahmins were treated in that timeframe.
