The wave of the new COAS came to us as shock 2014 because we are waiting patiently to finish our operation and be rotated so we can at least have a new lease of life (start afresh) as we were inducted into Frontline as freshers and we turned pro within few months.
You have to
Make yourself happy and adapt to the new terrain as quickly as possible because you might blame yourself or probably abscond if you can adapt quickly from two things the terrain by drinking enough water to avoid urinating blood and the worse of it all the duration of
Your sleep is limited.
The quicker you adapt the better.
Adaptation I must say was the begining of wisdom for me or probably part of my problem depending on the angle I might want to view it from.
Now the then then COAS Lt Gen Ihejirika has being changed and the new
COAS Lt Gen KTJ Minimah who many viewed as a proper Infantry Gen not just an Inf Gen but a field officer to the core.
We aren't old enough in the system to know him proper.
Happiness all over, but we knew the wave of rotation of troops will die down as we are already
Planning of rotation. After spending over a year in the Frontline.
If there's one thing the then COAS Gen Ihejirika was known for is rotation of troops as at when due back then.
Once you spend 6 months or at most a year, you're expected to be rotated go back to your
Unit, spend time with your family at least and prepare for another or same task again.
But as a Soldier you should expect the unexpected, professionalism comes with it.
At least I at least experience being a Pak Mobile strike Team trained to the core .
Then the tough
Takes came, as the new COAS is visiting Maiduguri and we already doing a course inside the barracks.
Briefed the officers and Soldiers of the take ahead and the morale being a MSF going deep into Sambisa will be the first task.
As he vowed to end Boko Haram Terrorists
Within 2 months so all Soldiers can return to the Barracks and start proper Military duties.
Because trust me, the dynamism of the system was going down then, young Soldiers can't even say anything about going to a Unit under the guidance of CSM and RSM. But you come
Straight to the Frontline and the next thing is to adapt and fight until you're lucky enough to be rotated.
But trust me rotation or not morale was high.
As we now have a proper not only Infantry officer but a property field Gen as COAS who understands terrorism.
The
Address was mind blowing as we all know the time to put in more extra efforts nia here and let's get to work end it once and for all then everyone return back to their various barracks.
That was where I took my 🦅 and it became part of me until my last day in
Frontline, that's 9 years 1 week and 4 days.
We are ever ready and the task to Sambisa isn't just a task but a very tough one, then Yobe was even hotter than Maiduguri, attack wise and their route is Sambisa to Yola and other part of North East.
Weapons trooped in and
Other unit and Formations nominated men to join us for the operation.
The COAS returned back to Maiduguri and promised to join us during the course of advance. Are you sweet mouthing us like others or you're serious.
But we shall see as action speak louder than
Thank voice.
But his action is worth it, as we were about to embark on the difficult task, communication was established between we the Gunner, tank drivers and other commanders guess you hat the newly appointmentes COAS was also communicating.
That nerve And wind of
Okay now we are going to battle of our life and with the COAS even if we die we shall die a hero.
If you have the support of those you never think of in any battle the morale of such battle hit different and any operation you're going with such morale you have at least
80 percent chance of succeeding.
He was communicating with us ground to air with full air support.
Long story short, we entered Sambisa and immediately we got to Camp Zairo the battle from Tokummbere and all Alafas was a joke.
Zairo is the main battle and after
Several hours of gun Battle we were able to enter Camp Zairo, with proper Air support special shout out to those pilots they are the main heroes.
If you're part of those pilots February/March 2014 I will say again may God bless you.
What we saw inside that camp
Mouth can't say and the number of terrorists killed and the kind of humans we saw and other things God is in control we can't say it.
The COAS landed after everywhere has been cleared and was in shock till of praise and told us the toughest take is here and all other
Task are minor.
I suggested leaving that terrain empty after capture iajt a good idea, but who will want to to stay in Sambisa?😁
After 3 days we left for other operation and immediately we left Mubi was under attack and we headed straight to the
Battle.
And the COAS pronounce us with a special promotion after those heroics and funny how I got my double promotion from him Sambisa and Baga recapture.
What led to the sudden change after few months is only GOD that can explain that.
But
All we have to say is give God the glory and thanking him for life.
What we don't know is above us.
