Don't ignore fundamental topics like data structures, algorithms, DBMS, OOPs, and algorithms analysis.
They're important for building a strong foundation.
Most of the on-campus interviews ask questions based out of this.

On-campus placement
On-campus placement will sort out students on the basis of aptitude sometimes.
Recently a few top mnc's came to our college and the first step was an aptitude test.
And off-campus placements don't have this approach.
