'This.... This is Aces ability!'
A thread discussing the intricacies of Haki and theorizing how it may tie into inherited will #ONEPIECE
From what we know, Haki is a spiritual energy. It constitutes a person's soul and one can have particularly powerful Haki or large reserves of it lying dormant. In the 1st mention of haki,Blackbeard says he never believed luffys bounty was so low because of his high Haki reserves
We also see the mention of Shanks having a large and powerful amount of Haki, as whitebeard comments that he's just throwing his Haki around, while Shanks jokes and apologizes for subconsciously giving off some intimidation
Now we know the basis of Haki, and it's nature, let's talk about it as transferable energy. I began to feel wonder about this because of the 3d2y special, which was confirmed as Canon apparently, which details the process by which luffy unlocks red hawk
Luffy says specifically 'this is Aces ability'. It's not like ace is the only person who luffy has seen use fire. So this brought me back to what Blackbeard said in his battle with ace. He says that the devil fruit ability chooses you.
It is interesting as to how this works, as we know that devil fruits possess some level of sentience. However it is even more crazy when you think about how ace or buggy got their fruits. Even luffy. Often events that seem like a stroke of luck or fate.
We see oda many times parallel df users to their fruits. Luffy embodies freedom, similar to his fruit. Akainu is hot headed and stubborn like magma, aokiji is cool as ice, doffy is obsessed with control, like a string puppeteer.
It is then made more interesting when a statement from the ace novel is put in context. When Ace goes to meet Shanks, it is said his Haki, which feels like a torrid flame, is so much and powerful that it melts the ice on the island by Ben Beckman.
Through this then, it makes sense that ace ends up with the flame fruit, as the devil fruit literally chooses him, even though him and masked deuce both had a 50/50 chance of getting the power. He IS a flame man.
It makes me wonder then about how Haki may be transferred and how this could tie into inherited will. In film red, we are shown that usopps father can not only see the future, but can also somewhat share this future with usopp and awake his dormant ability to use this power
Now I usually take non Canon content with a grain of salt. However, this is not really the only instance. In marine Ford, luffy somehow sees the future, where Mihawk cuts his arm off, and pulls back.
Interestingly, Mihawk is known as the clairvoyant. He also says, so you can be cautious. Did he intentionally show luffy the future to see what he would do?
Through guys like Mihawk and ryuma also, we know that with powerful enough Haki and enough control and precision, a blade can be made a black blade, marking it with the individuals Haki permanently.
Enma also, was implied to still possess a residual of odens Haki, by both big mom and kaido, back at wano.
Therefore, I would not be surprised if luffy quite literally takes on aces will or his Haki. In the 3d2y special, we see that luffy has been struggling to unlock and maintain Haki, as he's still scarred from the events of marine Ford
Byrnndi world, a fairly powerful pirate antagonises him. Long story short, he captures Hancock's sisters, marigold and sandersonia, in an attempt to force Hancock to surrender to him so he could use her as collateral against the world government.
Luffy is easily defeated in their first encounter due to his inability to use Haki. He takes this event personally, as he sees it as a repeat of the ace situation, as he is too weak to protect people he cares about, and someone has to sacrifice themselves, as Hancock has to.
In their final clash, luffy is so determined to overcome him and his strong desire to never lose anyone close to him, not only unlocks Haki, but in the end, at the absolute apex of luffys intensity in the fight, he uses this flame ability he calls red hawk.
Obviously there's the idea of ignited rubber through friction and using the hakified arm as a base for combustion. However what if ace literally transfers a portion of his Haki to luffy.
This idea of the transfer of one's will tangibly is intriguing in a sense. It could be an explanation for things such as cursed swords. It could also add another kink to the idea of inherited will
Certain individuals like Shanks, having as powerful Haki as he does, and using similar techniques to Roger. Also may be a tying factor towards the will of D, and why the D are always professed to cause a storm.
Anyways thanks for reading. If you enjoyed this, I'd appreciate if you could like, rt and follow. You a goat if you even reached here. Aiit, peace
