Scripting history in Hampi!
It is a matter of great joy that during the 3rd @g20org Culture Working Group Meeting, a new record has been set!
A #GuinnessWorldRecord has been created for the ‘largest display of Lambani items’ with a total of 1755 items.
@narendramodi
In line with India's centuries old emphasis on empowering #NariShakti, this remarkable feat has been brought to life by the tireless efforts of over 450 women artisans. This rich embroidery tradition is predominantly upheld by the skilled women of the Lambani community.
The vibrant craft of Lambani embroidery practiced in the state of Karnataka is recognized & protected through the Geographical Indication (GI) tag. As living testaments to our cultural heritage, these traditions narrate stories of our collective ingenuity.
#CultureUnitesAll
The promotion of this craft will not only preserve a living heritage practice of India but will also support the economic independence of women. This is also something that has been repeatedly emphasised by Hon PM @narendramodi - of giving importance to our priceless heritage.
This world record aligns with 3rd priority of India’s G20 CWG - ‘Promotion of Cultural and Creative Industries and Creative Economy’ and draws our attention to India’s broader commitment towards preservation and promotion of our living heritage and cultural diversity.
The display of Lambani items has also been greatly appreciated by the delegates from world over - they marvelled at the craftsmanship of the women artists as well as India’s culture diversity.
