The iPhone was released this day in 2007.
You may remember the hype.
But there was also lots of skepticism.

To which Jobs responded, “it’s a category that needs to be reinvented.”
But as launch day approached, there was no shortage of skeptical headlines:
And even on launch day itself, there were reports questioning the hype:
Of course, the iPhone didn’t flop.
Apple went on to sell 1.4 million iPhones in the first year after its release.
And today, it’s estimated 1.4 million iPhones are sold every 2 days.
And Apple’s market value has risen from around $100 billion….
…to nearly $3 trillion today, making it the world’s most valuable company.
