Recently, PM Modi addressed G20 Agriculture Ministerial Meet
Just sharing crux of PM speech, can be helpful in answer writing in #UPSCMAINS

PM highlighted two major challenges
1) Disruption of Supply Chain caused by Pandemic and Geopolitical tension
2) Climate Change causing extreme weather events

India's Approach-
India following Fusion approach
*Our policy is a fusion of 'back to basics' and 'march to future'.
We are promoting Natural Farming as well as Technology-enabled Farming
*Farmer focus is on rejuvenating the mother earth, protecting soil health
πŸ§΅πŸ‘‡
Producing 'per drop, more crop', and promoting organic fertilizers and pest management solutions.
*At the same time, farmers are proactively using technology to boost productivity. Like using solar power on their farms, use of Soil Health Cards, Drones, Modified crops

*We promoting millets which are part of our ancient civilization, also known as *Shree Anna*
As millets have health benefits as well as it help in improving farmers' income

India is also developing an Institute of Millets Research as a Centre of Excellence - for sharing best practices, research, and technologies in millets.

What more can be done as "Collective Action"
*Need to empower our farmers with Innovation and Digital technology
*We must find ways to build sustainable and inclusive food systems, focussed on marginal farmers

*We must find ways to strengthen global fertilizer supply chains
*Adopt agricultural practices for better soil health, crop health and yield.
*Learn from Traditional practices from different parts of the world and develop alternatives for regenerative agriculture.

*Urgent need to reduce agricultural and food waste, and instead, invest in creating wealth from waste.
*Make solutions affordable for small and marginal farmers in the Global South.

PM aslo acknowledged the two important outcomes
1) Deccan High level Principles on Food Security and Nutrition' and
2) 'MAHARISHI' initiative for millets and other grains.

Also highlighted that
India's G20 priorities in agriculture focus on healing our β€˜One Earth’, creating harmony within our β€˜One Family’ and giving hope for a bright β€˜One Future’
