On the eve of Jawaharlal Nehru’s death anniversary, putting forth my personal impression/assessment of Nehru.
This will somewhat include Nehruvians as well - unavoidable.
+
Nehru’s public life has to be divided into 2 large phases.
- The Pre-Independence Phase
- The Post -Independence Phase
For Power, changes the greatest of human beings and a lesser man like Nehru would be no different.
Nevertheless, a set of summary first.
+
1. By 1947, there is no doubt that he was among the top 5 popular leaders of India.
There is no proper measure to say who among the lot Nehru, Patel, Savarkar, Bose were more popular than the other.
Definitely, Gandhi was more popular than all of them.
+
2. Nehru’s own hard work cannot be ignored. But he did not earn his place as an equal to Patel all by himself.
Between 1919-1929, one does not see any significant footprint of Nehru.
Its the 1929 elevation of JLN aided by MLN that placed JLN alongside Patel.
+
3. He did not earn his place as the leader of post independent India democratically.
The 1946 Elections are crystal clear. Any amount of gymnastics by Left Liberals cannot disprove the quiet conflict which was resolved in favour of Nehru undemocratically. Patel didnt protest.
+
4. The real damage is not pre-independence but post-independence.
Nehru’s era can be summarised as follows.
- Every single thing he succeeded in was already pioneered elsewhere
- Every single thing he pioneered in turned out to be disaster for the country
+
5. Nehru’s Negative Contributions
- Creating a Version of Modernity that institutionalised conflict with ancient Indian past
- Forced Secularizing of future generations of India
- Delaying Economic Growth of India
- Providing State support to Abrahamic Religions Exceptionalism
+
- Giving Ab. Religions a clandestine influence on Institutions
- Persecution of Dissent, Weakening of Democracy
- Transforming Congress into a Family Enterprise
- Creating an Elite that culturally persecuted Traditionalists
- Obfuscating uncomfortable aspects of Indian History
+
6. Each one of this can be definitely established if not mathematically proven.
Consequently, a significant section of educated India has become needlessly self-hating, culturally apologetic and void of any original thought.
+
7. Thus, Bharatavarsha has transformed into an India where the elite, powerful & educated
- Are unable to access its own Civilizational Genius
- Always look upto solutions & thought from the west
- Constantly seek a follower role
- Degenerate themselves in pleasure, comfort
+
8. It is not to say that Nehru did all this with vengeance and vile.
His own education, upbringing has been written enough. His Discovery of India is replete with such inferiority - that discovery itself was aided by those who were inimical to the civilization.
+
9. He succeeded in transforming a Purushartha seeking Civilization into one seeking
- a separation from its culture
- scientific temper
- progress & development
He took us in a path of modernity that neither delivered material nor harmony.
+
10. He aided the formulation of an Idea of India - an Elite making enterprise which constantly sought to demonise the larger culture for their own benefit.
Thus, he led an unassuming but society into conflict ridden future.
Civilizational enemies seized the opportunity.
+
11. As we begin the Amrit Kaal, it is necessary to bury this “Idea of India” of Nehru & bring back the true “Idea of India - Bharatavarsha”.
As Vishnu Puranas says what unites Bharatavarsha
- Pursuit of Moksha
- Yagna, Daana, Tapas, Karma, Yuga
- Aided by Rishis & Munis
+
That alone is the way for both
- Material Prosperity
- Spiritual Well Being
- Harmony
Its a pity Nehru thought Modern India ought not to be inspired from India’s past.
In the Amrit Kaal, we must set this right.
