SG: A person stranded etc are being taken to relief camps.. district magistrates are shifting them to home towns. close to 46,000 people have been helped so far and 3,000 approx helped with flights.. HC has extended the period from 1 month to 1 year on our request

State of Manipur has informed that a writ appeal has been filed by the all manipur tribal union against the judgment of Justice MV Muralidharan of March 27, 2023. While entertaining the writ appeal by May 15 and notice has been issued and to be hear don June 6. The state of Manipur moved an application before Justice Muralidharan to grant extension of time and the judge has granted time for considering direction to send a recommendation by one year... SG Mehta states that having due regard to sensitive law and order.. the state moved the single judge for extension of time so that the situation normalizes..

CJI: Sh Gonsalves that the single judge order is contrary to constitution bench judgments..since writ appeal is pending, we leave it open for parties aggrieved by single judge order to make submissions before the division bench and parties aggrieved by writ appeal order can move this court

CJI: Let the state of Manipur apprise us of what steps have been taken immediately upon reopening. As a constitutional court we will ensure this.
CJI: We are not entering into who was responsible based on allegations on one side before hearing the other side. it is a state subject ..law and order.. and we as an apex court we will ensure they do not turn a blind eye.. as a court we will also have to be conscious that some matters will be left to the political arm of the state. we have kept the matters pending... here since we want to retain control and not have another round of politicised hearing before the HC.
