In the last 5 years, I have lost more than 2.5M in crypto scams.
90% of the people are beginners & don't know about the scams.
Open this thread, if you don't wanna get SCAMMED in crypto:
More than $329M were lost in crypto scams, by people in Q1 2022.
I believe that number shown here is too less than the actual numbers.
In this thread, we are going to talk about 5 types of crypto scams, that are happening in the market right now.
Dive in to stay safe!🔥
1. P2P Scams 👥
#P2PScam are fraud activities in direct online transactions between individuals.
Scammers appear as legitimate buyers/sellers and trick people into sending money.
To stay safe:
✅ Verify identity
🔒 Use secure payment methods,
🤔 Be cautious of lure deals.
2. Phishing Scams 🎣
They are one of the most common scams.
In this, the scammers mimic legitimate websites and trick the users to provide private keys or login credentials. 💻
This allows them to steal 💰 from your wallet.
Before opening any link, always double-check.✅
3. Scam Exchanges.
Some exchanges lure people by giving away some bonuses like $20-$25 per signup.
Some even give #Bitcoins.
But investors don't know it's fake until they lose their deposits.
I lost $2M in FTX & recently I lost $200k in @bitgetglobal.
4. Rug Pulls.
A rug pull is a sneaky scam that happens in crypto, especially in DeFi projects.
It's when the people behind a project take off with all the money, leaving investors with nothing, without any warning.
To avoid rug pulls:
🔍 Research
𝌐 Diversify
🕵️ Be wary
5. Celebrity Scams.
Scammers impersonate famous people to promote fake crypto schemes, promising quick rewards.
They often do fake giveaways.
Always think twice before entering into anything like this.
That's a wrap!
