Not only #artwashing, but also #ethicswashing:
In addition to the @PalantirTech-sponsored art exhibition in #leipzig, a symposium is held to discuss the risks of #AI. They express concern about the loss of "ethics and security" in the context of the "AI arms race" 👀
(1/4)
The remarkable thing is: the symposium locates the greatest risks of AI in the area of generative AI / synthetic media (misinformation, deep fakes). The tone is alarmist: "Humanity is in danger of losing its grip on reality" That's an interesting move, because:

"Oh, how convenient that generative AI is being discussed so widely right now; then we can just shift the AI ethics discourse there... " (3/4)
... and it's a great distraction from the risks (aka abuse of power) posed by non-generative AI" - WHICH IS THE KIND OF AI that Palantir's business model is based on: finding patterns in data and using it against people (4/4)
I think that the risks of generative AI are much easier to reason about for the general public than the risks and power associated with "finding patterns in huge amounts of data" - would be interesting to see some stats on this @_MeMoKI
