The hymns called Thirumurais , Devarams and collectively termed Theentamizh Pathikkangals composed by the Saivite Saints in the 7th century were originally inscriped on palm leaves but were later transfered into copper plates in the 11th century under the patronage +
of General Kalingarayan of Chola King Vikrama Cholan.
The discovery of the copper inscriptions will add fresh knowledge on the social and religious life of the Tamils in the 11th century as well as further enlighten us on Chola history.
