I started meditating in mid-2021, and it was uncomfortable.
I’d cry often, I felt numb, it was hard to focus. Negative thoughts would pop up in my mind like ads after every YouTube video.
But after something happened, I felt a sudden urge to meditate. I gave it another shot.

But after something happened, I felt a sudden urge to meditate. I gave it another shot.
This time, I focused more and set goals. I’d say to my mind: “Focus for 2 min and you’re done”.
After a few weeks — “5 min and you’re done”. An then, 8–11 weeks in, “7 min and you’re done”.
It was difficult, but I was determined.

Here are 7 lesson that I learnt :
7/ Before you feel positive and peaceful — which are the real benefits of this practice — you’ll have to witness your negative thoughts about yourself and your life.
6/ It gives clarity like nothing else.
After 10 min of meditation, the clarity you get feels like someone wiped off the dust from your lenses.
All the self-doubt, confusion and unsurety you have about yourself doesn’t leave you. But..

Your intuition becomes powerful.

5/ To feel more peaceful, calm and stoic, meditate daily.
On days when I meditate, no matter who irritates me, it doesn’t affect me.
But when I skip meditation (for example, on periods), everything gets on my nerves.

The body is compared to a chariot, the senses to the horses, the mind to the controlling reins, the sense objects to the roads to be traversed..
..the intellect to the charioteer, and the Chitta, the functions of the mind as well as the repository of all affections, to the binding cord. — In Bhagavad Gita.
In meditation I often get distracted, but I’ve learned how to redirect my mind and take back control over my senses.

3/ The more you focus on your breath the more you strengthen your mental muscle.
The more your mental muscle grows the more you can withdraw yourself from sense gratifications (lust, anger, greed etc).

2/ If you don’t become calmer, more peaceful and less angry over time, you’re doing meditation the wrong way.
1/ Somedays your meditation session will be great, somedays it’ll suck.
Focusing on meditation is a high vibration activity but if were watching/thinking low vibration stuff (news etc)..

..then you’ll have a hard time getting in a higher or positive state. Thus meditation on somedays sucks.
