Historically there were Bais/Vaisya rajputs in Nepal which is attested from Nepal Vamshavalis (esp Gopฤlarฤjavaแนƒล›ฤvalฤซ).
Amsu Varman, nephew of Lichhavi king Sivadeva I, styled as Sri Mahasamanta in his
inscription dated AD 594 and later had adopted the exalted title "Maharajadhiraja". His reign is assigned after the death of Sivadeva I (AD 605 to AD 621).
Amsu Varman was not a Lichhavi which is evident from his title, moon symbol on his coins (maybe indicating him a
Scion of Somvansha) and it is further strengthened by the point that he doesn't appear in the genealogy recorded by Jayadeva II (a Lichhavi) just a century after his reign.
Later he placed Udayadeva, son of Sivadeva I on the throne and the line of Lichhavis continued.
They were replaced for a short period by Abhira Guptas but again Narendradeva (a Lichhavi) recaptured it from them in AD 643.
Late chronicles (Vamshavali) use the term "Thakuri" for Amsu Varman and his supposed descendants till AD 1043. Thus western scholars identify it as
"Thakuri dynasty" but this identification is challenged by Slusser, who considered it to be an honorific title rather than a dynastic name.
Since Jayakama/Jayadeva had no issue, Bhaskaradeva, a ๐˜๐˜ข๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ฉ thakur from Nawakot was elected as king. They ruled for five generations
till AD 1082 and their reign is classified as "Vaisya Thakuri" dynasty.
They were dispaced by Vama Deva (considered a scion of collateral branch of Amsu Varman) in AD 1083. Last in line was Ananda Malla, this dynasty is generally identified as "Second Thakuri dynasty".
After Ananda Malla, four other dynasties ruled including Vais Thakur dynasty before being replaced by Shah.
