One Piece Theory:
What's next for Eustass "Captain" Kid.
The role of his Devil Fruit, it’s connection to the man with the burned scar, and the Tower.
Shanks might have wiped the floor with Kid, but I think his role is far from over. Let’s go.

One thing to get out of the way - this theory assumes that Kid’s role in the story isn’t over.
Him being part of the Captain Trio means that he’ll do something important at the story’s end.
He was there at Sabaody. He was there at Onigashima. He’ll be there at the end.
I’ll structure this theory by asking a series of questions that’ll lead us to one cool conclusion. Let’s go.
As with most theories, it might not come true, but I think this is a fun idea worth considering.
Question 1: What could possibly make Kid so important?
We already know Kid’s backstory - it’s interesting, but
nothing in it makes him important (unlike Bonney or Ace for example, who are, as said in today's lingo, nepobabies.)
Can Kid be important without having a backstory that’s tied to the lore?
(Image from @newworldartur ).
I believe what makes Kid important is his fruit, and this is something he has in common with Law and Luffy, as part of the Captain Trio.
This importance has yet to be revealed.
Law carries the Ope Ope No Mi, which can grant someone immortality, and was worth five billion berries.
Luffy carries the Hito Hito No Mi, Model: Nika, which had it’s name hidden, and was guarded and subsequently stolen by current Yonko-Shanks.
What about Kid?
Kid’s Devil Fruit is the Jiki Jiki No Mi. The bonkers design aside, the power of magnetism is interesting because it might be related to the log pose.
The path one goes on in the Grand Line is determined by magnetic fields.
It’s interesting to note that the magnetic fields are illustrated by lightning bolts, which is also prominent in the fruit’s design.
Could a user of the Jiki Jiki No Mi have influenced the Grand Line? Let’s hold this thought.
Question #2: If Kid’s fruit is important, why might it be important?
Let’s look at a character close to Kid - Killer. His most prominent fight was against Hawkins, in chapter 1029 - The Tower.
In the fight's final moments, Hawkins draws the card that “signifies great change.”
“An upheaval of the established order, it’s hidden meaning indicates the opening of a new path.”
It’s clear that this is referring to Kid and Law taking down Big Mom and Luffy taking down Kaido.
However, I think it could be foreshadowing of Kid literally taking down The Tower.
The lightning bolt on the Tower card could actually be a reference to Kid’s Devil Fruit, which also features a lightning as it’s pedicel.
If Law’s fruit is the key to eternal youth and Luffy’s the key to liberation, Kid might just hold the fruit that’s key to upheaval.
Question #3: If Kid’s fruit is the key to destroying the Tower, what is the Tower?
A tower is something of great height, and is imposing. There’s a physical structure that towers and imposes over the OP world, both physically and metaphorically.
The Tower is the Red Line.
I’ve made a full thread about this idea here.
Basically, I believe the true identity of the Red Line is stacked up islands (kinda like Jenga blocks, or the stacked bowls on the cover of Chapter 1029).
The Red Line has a weakness that can be exploited (think the Death Star in Star Wars: A New Hope), and Kid’s Devil Fruit is what will allow for this weakness to be exploited.
TLDR; Kid will destroy the Red Line.
“The opening of a new path” indeed.
(While I'm unsure of how exactly the fruit will destroy the Red Line, if we consider the funky magnetic fields in the Grand Line, there might be a thing that was altered by the Jiki Jiki No Mi within the Red Line that can will undo the magnetic fields AND collapse the Red Line.)
Question #4: How does Kid end up destroying the Red Line?
This is where the man “marked by flames” comes in.
In line with Kid and Killer taking down the Tower, I think the man marked by flames will be the first step to the destruction of the Red Line.
I believe Jaguar D. Saul holds the blueprints for the Red Line’s destruction.
From the libraries of Ohara, I think he’s learned, not just the secrets of the World Government, but also the key to destroying them - the Devil Fruit with the Lightning Bolt.
Saul hasn’t just been sitting back and hiding.
Saul is waiting for the right time to unleash a plan that will bring forth a storm that will bring the World Government to it’s knees.
"THE D WILL ALWAYS CAUSE ANOTHER STORM."
With Saul, the Will of D and Will of Ohara intersect.
Saul has (a) the knowledge of Ohara, (b) the power of a giant and connections to Elbaph, (c) the connection to the D. clan and (d) knowledge of the inner-workings of the Marines, having been a former Vice-Admiral.
A perfect character to usher in the climax.
This actually parallels another character who bears the word “SOL” on his hat.
Kyros, the Thunder Soldier, was a captain of the Royal Army of Dressrosa. He came up with the plan to overthrow Doflamingo, led the Tontattas and allied with pirates in order to succeed.
Similarly, Saul will come up with a plan to overthrow Imu, lead the giants and ally with pirates in order to succeed.
SOL = SAUL.
The character that taught Robin how to laugh, and kept the flame of Ohara lit, will appear.
I believe Kid (and possibly his crew) will be rescued by Saul from the water, like how he rescued the books in the lake of Ohara.
Kid and the man marked by flames will be drawn to each other, like magnets.
"Alright, let's pull 'em up!"
Saul will convince Kid to work with him and his mission to destroy the Red Line, making Kid an integral part of the Final Saga.
Maybe this is one alliance that Kid will see success in.
On another note, Kid and his crew were taken down at Elbaf, where Saul is. Conveniently, in #onepiece1079, Shanks seems to have spared Kid’s life.
Perhaps Shanks knows about Saul’s plan too - he just couldn’t let Kid turn Elbaf into a warzone.
So to recap:
1⃣ Kid's lightning-shaped fruit is the key to destroying The Tower that is the Red Line
2⃣ The person who has this knowledge is Saul, who is in Elvaf
3⃣ Saul has a plan to destroy the Red Line, and will rescue Kid in order to do so
4⃣ Together, they open a new path
Could Oda just end Kid’s story at chapter 1079? Sure. But that’s not fun.
With this theory, I think the stage is set for the Captain Trio to come under the spotlight once more - Luffy and Law might fight Imu, and Kid will take down the Red Line.
Interesting, isn’t it?
So that’s my theory of how the man marked by flame and the man with the lightning-crowned fruit take down the Red Line.
If you’ve made it all the way here, thank you for your attention! Do like and RT, and enjoy your day.
"Go for it, Captain Kid!"
