THE SOCRATIS OF POLITICS...
Do u recall Socratis? Yes, the great Greek Philosopher. You know how he ended? He was tried by his own people and sentenced to Death.
You know why?
He dared to ask too many questions.
Do not read this thread, it's quite long.
Philosophers existed before Socratis, even in Greece but Socra was like no other, he became d symbol of what Ancient Greek Philosophy represents. He had fought in d Peloponnesian War. Neither tempted by coins nor comforted by gold, he marched this world barefoot and his appearance
-mattered not. Rather Socra coveted wisdom and virtue and his strategy of fetching them was to question everything, Socra questioned question and still questioned d answers. Yet he never inked a word on paper or tablet, all we read of him are from d works of others, esp his
-students, chief among them was another Great, Plato. In 399 BC, Socra aged 70 was put on trial by his fellow Athenians; His charges?
*He failed to acknowledge d gods of d city.
*Introducing new gods.
*Corrupting d youths of Athens. He stood before 501 Juries, who examined the
-case and considered that Arthens was in dire straits having just 'luled' at d Peloponnesian War and with a young democracy still teething, fragile...Socrates is too strong a character and a threat to d city's stability. Youths partook in anti-democratic struggles, many of
-them stung by Socra's bee of wisdom. Socra's response was simple, "I never taught anyone or claimed to be a teacher, I only ever asked questions'. 'I am hated and being punished bcos my questions exposed d ignorance of many previously rated highly and thus aroused their Hatred.'
-he said, d charges were merely smokescreen.
People would always Hate, what they don't understand. And as it was for Socratis in 350AD so it is for Asiwaju in 2023. Juveniles would question his rights to be relevant for so long where his peers and those after had come and gone!
'He must be a Dictator', 'he's imposed governors on Lagos'..and d man would simply respond "there had been no time, I had forced anyone on d people or install a Governor using Gun. I merely put forward a man I believe in and d people trust my judgment enough to follow", Socratis
-merely asked questions, Asiwaju merely recommend, every Gov had emerged via elections not coup d'etat. And like he told Seun of Channels TV in 2019, "I am only a leader bcos I have d people behind me".
Asiwaju isn't as boisterous as MKO or as imposing as Awolowo, so he's easily
-underestimated. He looks frail like one to expire tomorrow, yet he had fought d Military demanding democracy and won, fought d Generals in Agbada and again conquered. Like Fashola would say "underestimate him at your peril", his unassuming mien-his grace. His placid look
-presents him as dreary and perhaps unintelligent, yet d corporate world salutes his brilliance and he's managed to dominate his world for at least 30 years, Try it with your professor's look.
He's too Old, Just like Socra, d charges are mere smokescreen, for Mandela ruled at 75
-and Awolowo ran for office at 74, when men aged 77 and 63 are in d race, how is 70 too old? Yet, with rallying in 2 states in a day and more than once, he's proven, he may not win a boxing match, but he has more than enough strength to function as an administrator.
Finally,
-like Socratis, Politicians existed before Asiwaju, even in Nigeria but BAT is like no other, he's become d symbol of progressive politics but unlike Socra honoured in spirit, Asiwaju shall be honored in Flesh and on d 25th, it won't be a trial but a conquest, d Greatest president
-shall be elected. ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU, a victim of his own success, soon to be a Beneficiary of his sacrifice. The Socratis of Politics. Even those who in their millions sheepishly followed a soldier to their ruin would blame us for following Asiwaju for so long 😆.
Just before I forget...Good Morning BATists...
