1. DISPOSITION
Walking into the Embassy's offices can humble & deflate your ego.
Don't appear inferior, timid, and frail.
Build confidence in your steps, face, gestures, voice & eyes.
Your demeanor says a lot about your leadership attitude.

2. INTRODUCE
Create a rapport with the panel.
Integrate yourself with the mood of the room.
Deflate the room tension by smiling & taking a deep pulmonary breath.
Introduce yourself & what you do.
"My name is", NOT "My names are"
Talk like an AFRIKAN.

3. SELL
If you are in the PUBLIC MANAGEMENT track, sell your employer.
If you are in the CIVIC track, sell your community work.
If you are in ENTREPRENEURSHIP track, sell your product/service.
Be proud of what you are selling. Blow the Afrikan trumpet.

4. SIMULATE
What problem is your employer, organization, or product/service solving?
Do you understand this problem?
Simulate the problem and justify why it is a problem.
Wear the shoes of the person facing the problem.
#MasculinitySaturday
5. EXPOSE
Expose the problem further.
As the technical person, how deep is the problem?
Can you quantify & qualify the veracity of the consequences?
Describe in technical terms the source, the margins & the tip of this problem.

6. CLARIFY
While selling your employer, organization, or product/service you briefly mentioned the solution.
Now, clarify the solution.
Give your solution a human face.
" Our solar panels are affordable" NOT "Our Solar panels are cheap"

7. TESTIMONIALS
After simplifying your solution,
Share evidence of impact. Eg,
"As a doctor in a public hospital, I have set up a special room for mentoring men on how to overcome Gender-Based Violence. Since March 2022, I have mentored these 37 men."

8. SCARCITY
Finally,
Explain how you are operating with scarce resources.
Describe how the Fellowship will help you overcome this scarcity.
Give examples of American institutions solving a similar problem.
Show interest in becoming a lifetime mentee.

BONUS:
These steps will help you to understand the nature of the interview.
Questions can be random but stick to this methodical approach to answers.
Be an authentic Afrikan. Don't try to be an American.
Don't show desperation & neediness.
Good luck!
