1. What is Scroll?
Scroll is an L2 scaling solution for Ethereum
It is an 'EVM-equivalent' zkEVM that is slated for a mainnet launch sometime this year
zkEVMs are general-purpose zk rollups

As we all know, Ethereum can get highly congested in its current state
Scroll zkEVM will help Ethereum to scale to hundreds of thousands of txs per second
All while maintaining the same level of security and decentralization

3. How does the scroll zkEVM work?
Scroll's architecture consists of 3 components:
• Scroll Node: Constructs L2 blocks & commits them to the Ethereum base layer
• Roller Network: Generates zkEVM validity proofs to prove that txs are executed correctly

• Rollup & Bridge Contracts: Provides data availability, verifies validity proofs, and allows users to move assets between Ethereum & Scroll
Putting these 3 components together, let's look at how the 📜 zkEVM works:
i) Every few seconds, the Sequencer retrieves a batch of txs from the L2 mempool and executes them to generate a new L2 block and a new state root
It sends the execution trace T to the Coordinator

Sequencer also submits the tx data D to the Rollup contract on Ethereum for data availability
ii) The Coordinator randomly selects a Roller to generate a validity proof for each block trace
Every few blocks, the Coordinator asks one of the rollers to aggregate all the proofs

iii) This aggregated proof, A, is sent to the Rollup contract to finalize L2 blocks by verifying the proofs against the previously submitted tx data
Putting these together allows 📜 to execute fast & efficient L2 txs while inheriting the security guarantees of Ethereum
