1. On December 16, 1971, more than 93,000 Pakistan Army soldiers surrendered to the Indian Army. After the Bangladesh War, these POWs were lodged and fed in Indian camps for 18 months. And yes, Aamir Abdullah Khan Niazi and the captured Pakistani soldiers enjoyed tea.
2. Because of the shortage of housing for these Pakistani prisoners, many Indian Army officers vacated their homes and slept in tents in freezing winter and hot summers so the Pakistanis could be accommodated in comfort. What a stupid thing to do by our Army and our leaders.
3. The idea was to make these Pakistanis ambassadors of peace. Instead, these well-fed soldiers displayed open hostility. They told their Indian captors that they would return in another war, and destroy India. If you feed a snake milk, it will only produce poison, not nectar.
4. Because none of these Pakistani soldiers were tried for their horrendous war crimes (the murder of 3 million Bengalis, and atrocities on captured Indian soldiers), they later did a similar genocide in Balochistan where they killed over 10,000 Balochs.
5. General Bajwa says "only 30,000 soldiers" surrendered. That is still a large number of soldiers who didn't fight when they had ammunition to fight another month. But see the postage stamp issued by Pakistan, appealing to the world to pressure India to release 90,000 POWs.
