The U.S. doesn't mind if a country applies Shariah punishments, so long as that country helps in the fight against Global Jihadism.
The U.S. is most worried about jihadist groups that will spread to other countries and spread Shariah by force.

Taliban will be similar to Saudi Arabia in the 90s in that it will apply Shariah punishments and be a conservative society, but will also be part of the fight against Global Jihadism.
The main goal is to stop the spread of Global Jihadism & the return of the Caliphate system

One difference though between today and Abu Musab al-Suris analysis of the Taliban 1.0, is that the Taliban 2.0 have already allied with the U.S. and other countries to fight global jihadism.
