2. The Indian Army was poised to take Lahore and Sialkot but Gen Jayanto Nath Chaudhuri assumed India was running out of ammunition. He advised Shastri to agree to a ceasefire even though the PM wanted to prolong the war by a few days to ensure a total victory for India.
4. The 2 Jat Regiment had just 500 troops. They killed 308 enemy soldiers, captured 108 and destroyed 6 tanks. Jats lost only 56 men. In the Battle of Batapore Pakistan lost 667 soldiers. Pakistan had ammo for just 3 more days when the ceasefire saved them. India had 22 days ammo
5. In the 1971 War, the commander of a Pakistan Army armoured regiment that was moving towards Rajasthan boasted that he would have breakfast in Jaisalmer, lunch in Jodhpur, dinner in Delhi. This attacking force had more than 4,000 soldiers, dozens of tanks, trucks and artillery.
6. Opposing them were 200 Indian soldiers of the Punjab Regiment armed with only assault rifles, mines and 3 anti-tank rifles. Eight hours later, the invading Pakistani regiment was in full flight, losing hundreds of troops, all its tanks and most of its trucks and artillery.
7. Pakistan again got a sound beating in the 1999 Kargil War. Their Foreign Minister Sartaj Aziz (who was virulently anti India) rushed to Delhi and implored Prime Minister AB Vajpayee to stop the 24/7 bombing by the Indian Air Force which was causing huge Pakistani casualties.
8. And yet after each defeat, the Pakistanis forget their humiliations and losses. And start a new conflict. They believe 1 Pakistani is equal to 10 Indians. This is because their entire ecosystem is geared for perpetuating hatred for India and Hindus. And that won't change
