My last thread was not well received by the audience, and it has generated a considerable amount of negative feedback...
Here's my take on some common feedback:
1. Using "Quit" was wrong in the title
- With my purest intention I meant - "If you're not having the mentioned skills and if you're not ready to work on those skills, then and then you should consider quitting programming and look for other career options"
- Without those skills, you'll always be a mediocre programmer and high chance you will do better in other career options
2. Gatekeeping
- If telling somebody "what soft skills you need to become better at programming" is Gatekeeping then yes I am a gatekeeper
- Just one title of one thread and your whole persona is perceived negatively
- If I was a gatekeeper, I would not have been teaching programming through my threads to beginners
- I've seen people making an unconscious decision and entering into a programming career and then quitting it later
- Better take a conscious decision of what skills this field takes, and then enter the world of programming
- Neither, I said these are "few skills a programmer is born with"
- You can always improve them and be better at programming
3. Spreading negativity & toxicity in the tech community
- Not everybody is meant to be a programmer that's the dark reality and not many will tell you that online
- If making you aware of this reality is toxicity, then let me be toxic, I don't give a damn
- I've not told people to quit tech, No!
- Programming is not tech, tech has other career options as well which do not need coding so try to consider them
- The thread was already concluded on a good note, so there's no question of spreading toxicity in the community
4. Farming engagements
- I am not putting a gun on your head to follow me and like my content
- It's your choice if you feel the thread is adding value then and then only follow me or like it
- Otherwise, you're free to block me, unfollow me, report me or do whatever you like
5. Ending notes
- Tweets are limited to words, it's difficult to show the hidden emotions and intention behind them
- It's better to see what the creator is trying to say rather than nitpicking his/her words
- Its ok to criticise but staying respectful will not cost you a dime
