You see all of these young guys on Twitter making $5000-$15,000 a month with a lead gen agency
And you feel like you are missing out on something
So I wrote a thread breaking it down for you 🧵
Like we have all seen, lead gen agencies are getting more popular each day here on Twitter
And if you are following from the sidelines - you probably feel that you are missing out on something
So I wanted to break down the business model so you can take an advantage of it
For context, I started my lead gen agency in November 2021
In 92 days I was making $13,000/mo
Last May I made over $33,000 from my agency
76% profit margins
15-hour work weeks
The business of lead generation is mega simple
Who is it for?
I recommend always starting in the B2B (Business to Business) market
In B2B we can leverage cold outreach way better legally
So we can send cold emails & cold LinkedIn messages instead of using paid ads
B2B lead gen is a service where you generate leads or sales meetings for other companies
This is great since it solves the most painful problem in business
The most important part of each business is sales
The most important part of sales is prospecting & outreach (generating leads)
For 90% of business owners it's also the hardest part
So if you can help someone in the process of finding good leads and reaching out to them
You are:
1. Helping them on the MOST IMPORTANT part of their business
AND
2. You are solving their BIGGEST problem
So yeah... you are valuable as fuck
So how does it usually work?
Lets say that Company called LeeviLeads offers lead generation services to marketing agencies in Spain
LeeviLeads reaches out to a spanish marketing agency and tells them:
"Yo Founder Filip,
I can get you 10 more sales calls every month"
Founder Filip has big struggles with getting sales calls in their business so he is interested
LeeviLeads & Founder Filip start working together
LeeviLeads asks Founder Filip:
"Who is your ideal client?"
And FF (Founder Filip) answers:
"Start-Ups in Latin America"
Boom!
LL (LeeviLeads) builds a list of Start-Ups in Latin America and starts reaching out to the list disguised as FF
"Hey John,
My name is FF and we help start-ups like yours in Latin America to do X, Y & Z.
Do you want to have a meeting to hear how we can do that for you?"
Let's say that LL sends that outreach message to 2000 start-ups
If 2% of those start-ups are interested in having the meeting, LL will book the meeting for FF
2000 X 2% = 40
LL books 40 sales meetings for FF
Then FF takes those 40 meetings and on average starts working with 20% of the companies
40 X 20% = 8 new clients
If one client pays FF $3000 each month
LL just helped FF to make $24,000/mo more revenue
When you can make money like that for someone
You will make a lot yourself too
Usually, lead gen agencies charge $200-$500 per meeting booked
So if we were charging $250 per meeting
We would have made
$250 X 40 = $10,000
Here is a good example:
So in a nutshell the service delivery is:
1. Determine the ideal customer profile
2. Build a list of companies like that
3. Reach out to them with an offer
4. Book meetings with interested people
For building the list there are hundreds of different tools
- Apollo
- Scrapehype
- Findymail
- Crunchbase
- Etc.
These tools make it super easy for you
You just put in your client ICP and get a list out with companies who match that profile
For sending messages to that list
You can use instantly(dot)ai
And cold email everybody
These cold emails are simple & short
Let's say your client runs TikTok ads for e-commerce stores
And they just helped someone make an extra $700,000 in 30 days using TikTok ads
You could build a list of similar e-commerce stores
And send them an email saying:
"Hey John, your new product pictures are amazing!
Wanted to reach out to you since we just helped Company X generate an extra $700,0 in 30 days using TikTok ads.
Looking at your site - I'm sure we could do the same for you.
Do you have 15-minutes for a call next week?"
Of course not everybody who receives that email will be interested
But even if 0.5% book the meeting with you
And you are charging $250 per meeting booked
You would make $125 for every 100 emails you send
And you can send 2000 emails EVERY DAY
The best thing is that you can automate 90% of the process
So you just need to make sure that you are building new lists before the old one runs out
And testing different messages to see which one works the best
"But there are a lot of lead gen agencies already - isn't the market saturated?"
It's not
There are 2.5 million B2B companies in the US alone (10-sec google search)
Imagine how many there are in the world
And 90% of them need more leads
So no...
The market is not saturated
Of course, this thread is a simplified and high-level overview of how the business model works
And there are a lot of small things & best practices that make or break a lead gen agency
