Why is there no YouTube for text?

Lot of people saying Twitter is it
I think it's probably the closest?
I was thinking more like what Medium and now Substack are going for

Since text is easier to store and serve than video, and blogging came first, you'd think a big YouTube-esque network would have predated YouTube
Instead blogger / wordpress / movable type (and other of that generation) mostly built tools rather than a network

LiveJournal and Xanga were some interesting examples, but didn't turn into anything
