Thread on the national security implications of #ElectricVehicles
1- Graphite Production
Not in Europe! Not in the US!

2- Lithium Production
Not in Europe! Not in the US!

3- Cobalt Production
Not in Europe! Not in the US!

4- Nickel Production
Not in Europe. Candian and US production is small.

5- Oil Production
- The US remains the largest oil producer in the World
- Canada is among the top 4 producers
- The oil industry is diverse and not as concentrated as the minerals above
- The same applies to natural gas #Oil #OOTT #COM #LNG

6- If you believe that Europe & US have launched wars for oil, although oil is produced in US & North Sea in large quantities & produced in a large number of countries, what will happen to HIGHLY concentrated minerals that are badly needed to transition to a green future? #OOTT

- A colleague said that Copper is missing and he is right.
- Very little exists in Europe (Poland &Spain), US is 5th in the world (half of what Peru produces)
- While it is not as concentrated as other minerals above, it is way more concentrated than oil ad gas.
