Instagram is betting the farm on Reels.
It's not just about video, it's about prioritizing content from randos across all of Facebook's family of apps. Mark Zuckerberg thinks this is the future.

In the process of writing this I did a bit of digging to see if we can understand how well Reels is actually doing.
The answer is about half as well as Stories was doing by now.
(20% of time spent in Instagram is Reels, and two years into Stories they said it was almost half.)

While I obviously see a lot of challenges with this strategy, I should say I do have a ton of respect for @mosseri and especially how he is communicating about these changes with the public
