My Twitter growth:
Year 1: 1k-15k
Year 2: 15k-100k
Year 3: 100k-350k+ (projected)
Here are 10 lessons I've learned on my Twitter journey:
1/ Starting Is The Hardest Part
As with any new skill, there's a huge learning curve.
You want to find the answer to 2 questions asap:
-what content do you enjoy creating?
-what content does your audience loves consuming?
Once you find that overlap, things will click.
2/ 2 Keys To Growth
Growth = Traffic x Conversion
Traffic = Create new content, comment on big accounts, and collab with other creators.
Conversion = Give people a reason to follow you in your bio and pinned tweet.
Master both and growth will come.
3/ Focus On The Inputs
I've spent 5 hours on a thread that got 500 likes.
I've also spent 1 hour on a thread that got 100,000 likes.
You can't control the outcome or results of your posts.
Focus on the inputs and making the best content–the rest will take care of itself.
4/ The Best Way To Grow Is To Share What You Know
The fastest growing accounts on Twitter are those who share knowledge about a subject they're an expert in.
Pick a topic you're a pro in (or love learning about) and share ALL the best tips/tricks on it.
Your growth will πŸš€.
5/ Review & Remix Your Best Posts
Every month take 5 minutes to review your best-performing posts.
Try to analyze why they did so well.
Then think of ways you can remix or recreate them.
Your audience wants more of that content so give it to them.
6/ It Gets Easier
It took me 12 months to get to 15k followers on Twitter.
Now I gain 15k followers every month.
The bigger your audience, the more people see your content, and the easier it becomes to grow.
The big get bigger so get big fast.
7/ Store Your Ideas
Not all of your ideas will be brilliant, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't store them.
There's a chance your raw ideas aren't bad at all, they're just unrefined.
Ideas are like diamonds, sometimes they require a bit of polishing to get their true beauty.
8/ Turn Questions Into Content
If you're constantly getting the same question from your audience turn that answer into a piece of content.
Make FAQs (frequently asked questions) into NCIs (new content ideas).
It's a win-win.
9/ Curation Is Creation
Many creators think every post they make has to be original content BUT that's not true.
Curation can be a great form of creation.
Example: Create a Twitter thread with your 10 most popular threads. Boom! There's your new post.
10/ Share The Journey Not Just The Victory
Don't wait until you climb to the top of the mountain to share your wisdom.
There are lots of people on a similar path to yours who want to know how you moved up the mountain–not just what it's like at the top.
Make content for them.
