[Thread] 📌
This book is interesting because the author mentions in her book several letters attributed to Bin Ladin, where the latter describes the relationship of Al Qaeda with the Taliban.
2/
The letters in question are those found by the Americans following the Abbottabad raid against Bin Ladin, Zawahiri will himself confirm the veracity of some of the letters found in Abbottabad.
3/
since he will quote certain letters, at the time already made public by the United States during an audio response in 2014 to Al-Adnani entitled:
شهادة لحقن دماء المجاهدين بالشام
4/
In this audio, Zawahiri mentions lSlS's supposed hidden allegiance to Al-Qaeda, notably citing some of Abbottabad's letters between lSlS-AQ, declassified at the time as proof of it.
5/
But the subject of this thread here concerns the declassified Abbottabad letters in 2017 on the relationship between Al Qaeda and the Taliban, the author cites the following supposed opinions of Bin Ladin through these letters, among them:
6/
According to these letters and the author, Bin Ladin trusted only some Taliban leaders, for Bin Ladin many of the leaders belonging to the Taliban were not reliable, and I quote "only agree to establish certain parts of the religion that tyrants allow".
7/
According to these same letters, Bin Ladin saw many of these leaders as people who had, I quote "no qualms about being led around the nose by the intelligence services of apostate states (referring to Pakistan and others). states of the Muslim world)"
8/
Bin Ladin would also have expressed his concern in the event that Mullah Omar would be killed, according to these same documents, Bin Ladin would have said "if our friend disappears (Mullah Omar), then these people (those mentioned above ) will succeed him".
9/
Bin Ladin is also said to have warned his associates among other Taliban that these leaders (those mentioned above) want to drag Al Qaeda "into their mistakes".
10/
According to these letters, among the leaders of the Taliban who had the confidence of Bin Ladin, there were those among the Haqqanis, Mullah Omar, as well as Dadullah Mansour (who will be killed by the Taliban in 2015 after his alliance with IS).
11/
Among those who did not have the confidence of Bin Ladin according to the author, there were Mullah Baradar (current Deputy Prime Minister of the Taliban) and Mullah Akhtar Mansour (previous leader of the Taliban, successor to Mullah Omar), as well as Mullah Obeidullah.
12/
In the Abbottabad documents (page 913 -914) There is a message from Osama to Zawahiri.
Zawahiri told Osama that Mullah Dadullah was assassinated by Pakistani ISI wing of the Taliban led by Akhtar Mansur.

13/
In 2007 after the Pakistani ISI wing of the Taliban (Mansour, Baradar, Obaidallah) assassinated Mullah Dadullah, Osama never trusted the Taliban again.
They assassinated Mullah Dadullah because he was against negotiations with the Afghan Government and U.S.
14/
Mullah Dadullah said he would behead any Talib that considered negotiating with the Afghan government.
And that such person is a "shameless" person.
He had to be assassinated according to the Pak ISI wing of the Taliban because he was against negotiations.
15/
The Taliban knew the Osama did not trust them anymore.
So they tried to pull the "Maslaha" card on him.
But it did not work, Osama knew the Pakistani ISI wing of the Taliban were assassinating the righteous Taliban members one by one.
16/
The Taliban leaders (the ISI ones) showed their true color when they tried to release those accused of Mullah Dadullah's assassination.
17/
According to the author, Mullah Omar had approved the preparations for the 9/11 attacks, one of the reasons why Bin Ladin would have trusted that Mullah Omar would not sell him according to Nelly Lahoud.
18/
According to the author and these letters, there was fear on the side of Al Qaeda about the willingness of the Taliban to negotiate with the U.S, in particular because of the risk for the main cause led by Al Qaeda, that of global jihad, and that AQ could do nothing more.
19/
According to the author, Bin Ladin's fears were justified since Mullah Omar's death would be hidden from Al-Qaeda for several years, and several years later some of the Taliban leaders whom Bin Ladin had criticized would take de facto power.
20/
Ayman Zawahiri nightmare scenario that he predicted in 2010 came true, and now AQ in Afghanistan became impotent and its leaders were simply political refugees.
21/
What's interesting is, Mullah Dadullah had a brother, Mansour Dadullah who was also an important member of the Taliban that defected from them in 2015 and opposed them, he accused the current Taliban of being too close to the Pakistani Government.

The Taliban killed him in 2015 in Zabul alongside Usman Ghazi, Usman Ghazi who pledged allegiance to lS.
The two were helping each other. It was a rare case of cooperation between ISKP and a splinter group of the Taliban.

He was a very high commander of the Taliban featured on many videos of the Taliban. Here is an interesting interview of him in 2007 (long before he defected), he is saying that the fight of the Taliban is a global jihad not restricted to Afghanistan.
