This is an interesting paper scholar.harvard.edu
Kinda wanna start a hedge fund built around the following thesis:
- identify assets that have risen 100% in value over the past two years
- open a large position
- sell when you hit 20% return
Feels like that could work?
The strategy is based on the historical observation that assets rising in value that fast tend to keep rising another 6 months and gain an additional 30%
20% builds in a good margin of safety but still is much better than an index fund
I guess this is just momentum investing?
Are there any funds that do this strategy more or less explicitly? Seems like a lot of momentum investors make the mistake of holding too long (aka drinking the kool-aid)
The cool thing about this strategy is that the more popular it gets, the better it works 😅
