⚔️ In 1575 the kingdom of Bishnupur in Bengal province resisted a ferocious attack by the invading Karrani Dynasty led by Afghans, Dawood Khan Karrani, who had ambitions of seizing the whole of Eastern India. 2/5
⚔️ When news reached Rajkumar Hamveer Malladev that the village of Ranisagar on the outskirts of Vishnupur had been attacked, and the Karrani army were advancing, Prince Hamveer Malladev immediately assembled his warriors and set out to respond to the invasion. 3/5
⚔️ What resulted was one of the bloodiest battles which took place near Mundamal Fort where the Pathan invaders were eventually crushed and defeated by the valiant Malla army. 4/5
⚔️ Veer Hamveer Malladev took the heads of his decapitated enemies, made a garland with them and presented it as an offering to his Kuladevi. The location of the battle came to be known as Mundamala Ghat, meaning 'Skull (or severed head) Garland Pass'. 5/5
