15 Highlights From "How to Achieve More by Doing Less" or "Free to Focus"
📚DD Book Thread🧵
1. Most people spend more time planning a one-week vacation than they spend planning their life!
2. Productivity isn’t about getting more done, it’s about getting the right things done.
3. Achieving more by doing less of the stuff that doesn't matter sounds great but how do you do that in the real world?
A good 3-step system for this is:
4. STOP — and figure out why you're working first.
It's only once you clarify why you're working that you can then set about upgrading how you work.
5. CUT — clarify what you won't do so you have more time for what you do need to do.
6. ACT — fill your day with high-leverage tasks, and look for ways to get these tasks done in less time and with less stress than before
7. Perfectionism is the mother of procrastination.
8. You can't fail if you don't quit. You can't succeed if you don't start. (Check out my review on "The Dip" book by Seth Godin)
9. What single brave decision do I need to make today?
10. If you can start each day with clarity about your highest value priorities and then end each day with a feeling of accomplishment, you'll be doing well.
11. People lose their way when they lose their why.
Remember the purpose behind all of your actions. It will keep you grounded when the going gets tough.
12. Your future does not equal your past. Tomorrow is full of possibility you can access right now.
13. Don't let your current actions be limited by what you did or did not do before.
14. The strength of our relationships is measured by how much people can count on us.
15. Many people put effort into something temporary, that won't last, rather than investing in what's right before their eyes: their lives
