Outsmart Whales πŸ‹ & Evade Dumps w/ Alerts 🚨
In this thread 🧡:
- How to set alerts to track any movement of your wallet of interest
- Understanding when to exit your position because a whale might dump on you
With a specific case study
I shared the full article on this on our website last week
And give @PHDCapital a follow while you're at it, more alpha is coming πŸ‘€
A lot of you asked me how I set alerts and what platforms I use.
Here's how:
β˜‘οΈ Make a free account with etherscan.io
β˜‘οΈ Click on your name top right and then select β€œWatch List’ from the dropdown menu.
β€β˜‘οΈ It'll show up with β€œemail notification” on the right.
The downside of etherscan:
❌ can't exclude notifications for certain tokens
❌ Extremely active whales will spam you to death with their incessant transactions
But I've used it successfully for years.
Nansen allows more modification of their smart alerts:
- exclude tokens
- include only certain tokens
- minimum usd value etc.
I asked my followers which illiquid shitcoins they wanted me to use to:
$SILO - A CASE STUDY
Overview of this strategy:
πŸ“ˆ - Find unusual price action in chart
πŸ‹ - See if there was one or two big whales causing it
πŸ•΅πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ- Observe whale behavior
🚨 - Set alerts
You can use both etherscan or @nansen_ai or @DeBankDeFi for this strategy
Get your contract address from Coingecko as usual:
Looking at the $SILO price chart, zoom out and see where the unusual buys and sells were.
We can see some interesting price movement 28 February
Big buyer(s) stepping in. Also the last week of January has some abnormal price movement.
Zoom out:
buys on the 28th of February have some significance as it effectively set the floor.
You can use etherscan to download the transaction data in a specific time window
But for my example I'll use Nansen as it's easier to follow along:
The easy auction and the smart LP cancel each other out.
Also you could do some research and find out that easy auction is some sort of 3rd party auction/presale/smart contract.
So the third one bought almost 1.2 million $SILO tokens.
Nothing else comes close.
So digging into the Token millionaire we find out his wallet address is:
0x23a5efe19aa966388e132077d733672cf5798c03
If we look at the top holders of $SILO token, our whale is the (non smart contract) top dog by a landslide owning almost 3% of the token supply
RECAP - what we've done so far
πŸ“ˆ - We found unusual price action
πŸ‹ - connected it to a whale
NOW:
πŸ•΅πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ- Observe historic whale behavior
🚨 - Set actionable alerts based on patterns
OBSERVATIONS
- He splits up his sells (usually) and splits up his buys
- 75% of the time his sells marked the top
- 2/2 times his buys marked a local bottom.
- With 3, 30min, 2&4hours between the 4 large sells on April 13th.
- And also Jan 3rd his sells are split up between 3 large buys.
- He interacts with three contract addresses, 1inch, vyper contract, curve.fi for his sells.
🚨🚨🚨 πŸ‹ Alerts πŸ‹πŸš¨πŸš¨πŸš¨
- Alert for any buy/sells of $SILO
- Alert for any new token approval to sell
- Add this whale to watchlist in nansen/debank/etherscan, and be notified of his every move
How we trade with these alerts:
Historically you'd have done well if:
1) you sold ASAP when his 1st sell order comes through, buy back later that day/next day for an easy 10-30% in $SILO tokens to compound your position.
2) in the short term you buy when he buys.
Seeing how there’s enough time between those buys historically, you could set up an alert and buy with enough time.
3) He used new contracts to sell, meaning you could have been notified for a new token approval.
If this is a long term hold, see when:
- πŸ‹ starts to lose confidence
- πŸ‹ sets/defends the floor again, or doesn't
- πŸ‹ sells into strength, take profits along with him
Just because you caught one whale doesn't mean you got them all.
@sonicthehedgor did this wonderful detective work that also involved $SILO, leading to another ruthless whale and CT character who dumps on his followers.
But even if you set alerts for just the top 10 holders and know when they're selling, you're ahead of most other people!
Hope this helps!
