Some of what Ibn Al-Qayyim said about the Paraclete prophecy 🧵
He said about the Paraclete who’s coming after him, that he will bear witness to him and he will teach them everything, and he will convict the world about sin
1/3
These qualities and adjectives from the Messiah (about the Paraclete) do not fit an unseen entity in the hearts of some people which can’t be seen or heard, rather it applies to someone who can be seen and heard by people, testifying about the Messiah, teaches them everything
2/3
And he’ll remind them of what the Messiah said, and he will convict the world about sin, and guides into all truth, he will not speak on his own ; but only what he hears, and he will tell about what’s to come, and he will teach them what belongs to God.
3/3
And this doesn’t apply to an angel which no one can see, and he isn’t knowledge and guidance in the hearts of some people, he can’t be anything except a great human speaking to people about what the Messiah has said, he can’t be except a human messenger…
1/3
He also told that he will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, this means that what he says to people is a revelation from God which he hears, not knowledge which he learned from people, this is exclusive to Muhammed ﷺ
2/3
Unlike the Messiah who had knowledge from what was given to Moses before, he learned from those before him, then God revealed to him after that. Just like what God said : And Allah will teach him writing and wisdom, the Torah and the Gospel [3:48]
3/3
So God told us that the messiah learned the Torah then he increased him with the Gospel, and the book which means writing. But Muhammed ﷺ was not knowledgeable at all before the revelation was given to him, so he couldn’t speak on his own, rather with revelation
God said :
1/5
And he said : There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now.
The reasonable ones will understand that these qualities only apply to Muhammed ﷺ because he told about Allah and his attributes, and his angels, and his kingdom…
2/5
And the details of heaven and hell, things which most brains can’t comprehend the details of.
Ali said : Tell people what they know, and leave what they can’t understand, do you want them to deny God and his messenger ?
3/5
And Ibn Masud said : There’s no man who speak to people about a matter which their brains can’t comprehend except it becomes a trail for some of them…
4/5
And Ibn Abbas was asked by a man about a verse and he replied to him “you’ll disbelieve in my explanation which will make you a disbeliever in the verse” (knowing the man can’t comprehend it)
That’s why the Messiah said “but you can’t bear it now.”
5/5
He told the truth in what he said, we don’t see in the gospel the details about the attributes of God and the details of his kingdom, and the details of the day of judgement except general descriptions without these vast details (the Quran explained the past revelations)
1/2
Then the Messiah said : But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth
This shows that the Paraclete will fulfill it without the Messiah, and that’s what happened because Muhammed ﷺ guided people into all truth until God completed the religion
2/2
And completed his favor, that’s why he’s the last one of the prophets; there’s no prophet after him (and his law will say until the day of judgement) and Muhammad ﷺ told about what will happen before the hour and the judgement and all of its stages and heaven and hell…
