Regardless of bridging capabilities (whether it be by Chainlink CCIP, Layer Zero, or another protocol), enshrined rollups in a singular L1 is a better model with fewer security assumptions.

This being said, upcoming bridge capabilities (as with CCIP) are better than the implementations discussed in the previous thread, but remain inferior to enshrined/immutable rollups.
As far as socioeconomic factors go, it's unlikely that chains will remain as fragmented as they are now, and cross-chain applications will be less necessary.
Potential attack surfaces have to be minimized if crypto is to become the global settlement layer, and one way is by reducing complexity.
